MFA’s recent years have been defined by a broad spectrum of projects, ranging from large scale commercial precincts to smaller residential additions. At all levels, MFA seeks to apply the same attention to detail and marine-specific expertise.
COMMERCIAL PROJECTS | DESCRIPTION | Sydney Boathouse, Rozelle Bay | In 2001, MFA participated in a selected tender to develop 26’000 sqm of waterfront land in Rozelle bay on Sydney Harbour. Initially conceived, master planned and designed as a marine precinct to become the epicentre of the Sydney boating landscape, the project included dry storage for six hundred power boats up to 11m, commercial, retail and restaurant space as well as a multi storey car park and a marina.
The project has now reached an intermediate phase of completion with a dry boat store, new marina, retail and commercial space. MFA has been involved in the project since its conception at both a design, project management and commercial management level. The scale and location of a project necessitated in depth planning and legislative expertise to bring it to fruition.

Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club | Marine Facilities Australia have been the principal design and project management body at RPAYC for almost a decade. MFA has been involved in a broad array of repairs and additions to the club and its infrastructure, including; Renovations of the primary clubhouse, renovations/rebuilding of the secondary ‘moon bar’ clubhouse and extensive additions/improvements of the club’s boatyard and slipways. MFA continues to be involved in the club’s future as RPAYC seeks to develop a new masterplan and wholistic design strategy. |
Sydney City Marine
| Marine Facilities Australia were responsible for the design of Sydney City Marine, at Rozelle Bay on Sydney Harbour. It is a purpose designed shipyard, consisting of 4 buildings, hardstand, marina & car park. It is regarded as a one-stop shop for all kinds of marine projects, from vessel repair and maintenance to complete refits and rebuilds.

Oceans 20 – Able Point Marina
| Oceans 20 was one of the most unique, unrealised projects Marine Facilities Australia had the opportunity to work on. MFA worked through the project from conception to construction documentation. Oceans 20 was proposed as a floating restaurant and entertainment venue to exist in and around Airlie Beach, Queensland.

Bowen International Marina – Queensland
| In 2008, Marine Facilities Australia, worked alongside a marine based project management team and the Queensland Government to put together a scheme, to engage and beautify the entire waterfront precinct including Bowen Marina. The development included the harbour, dry boat store, public boat ramp, commercial and private berthing, car parking, fish co-op, residential, commercial and parks. The project was unfortunately abandoned, but it was excellent opportunity to gather experience in working with government bodies and urban plan designing to include marine infrastructure.

Georges Cove Marina
| Our client for Georges Cove Marina saw the need for a dry boat store and marina facilities in the Georges Cove area. We worked together, analysing the statistical data on hand for the boats that were predominantly owned and used in the area. The development application remains with Liverpool City Council.

Woolwich Marina
| Marine Facilities Australia was approached by the owners of Woolwich Marina to assist with the expansion of the facility to accommodate 36 new marina berths, relocate existing swing moorings and provide adequate car parking. The project is ongoing and involves a depth of negotiation with authorities, namely Transport for NSW and Hunters Hill Council. Additionally, the project has engaged a team of trusted consultants such as town planners, traffic engineers and heritage conservation.

Wyndham Harbour Marina
| Marine facilities Australia were engaged at Wyndham harbour for their expertise in the development of dry boat storage facilities. MFA played a key role in a broad team involving project managers and architects to develop a scheme including a dry boat store, commercial marina, residential marina and yacht club. The project remains unrealised.

RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS | DESCRIPTION | Pittwater Road, Bayview | Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, this project included a fully integrated design of a private jetty and pontoon for the client’s waterfront property. MFA was involved with the project from conception to construction. |

Louisa Road, Birchgrove | The client requested new marine facilities including a mooring pen, deck, jetty, ramp and pontoon. This project provided MFA a challenge in the difficult interface between the existing seawall, path and stairs with the new sea-ward structures. |
Hudson Parade, Clareville
| A multi-faceted waterfront project for the client’s waterfront home on Pittwater. Extensive works, including a new boathouse, jetty and pontoon. |
Wentworth Road, Vaucluse
| This project sought to completely replace a complex yet decayed private wharf and pontoon in Vaucluse. MFA were successful in smoothly negotiating planning controls to provide the client with a functional marine structure, aesthetically fitting for the area. |
Mayfield Avenue, Woolwich
| The client’s key objective was to replace their existing waterside staircase with a structure/system that would allow for the docking and easy use of their boat. MFA suggested and executed the design and construction of a new mooring pen. Including a new jetty, ramp and pontoon, the client’s goal was evidently achieved. |
